Studio Donegal's Soft Donegal Chunky is one of the unicorns of the yarn world: a tweed yarn that's actually soft! We love it for Sally Melville's ingenious pattern L'Enveloppe. The tweedy texture adds visual interest to the garter stitch, and the softness of 100% merino makes the finished piece a complete delight to wear.  This shape is so unique and comfortable.  It’s really a one armed poncho.  It gives you lots of room and flexibility to move and yet stays in place on your body.  It’s my new uniform.

Our sample was knitted in size M, garter stitch at a gauge of 13 stitches over 4".
